Happy Thursday, babes! Okay, funny story.. So a couple months ago the boy I was dating and I broke up. It’s actually hilarious because for some reason I was really sad about it (gotta love break ups!). SO, for Valentines day, my mom got me this trench coat from Surprise Kate Spade to help make me feel better (hahaha), I’ll take it. Her words were, “No more crying over that stupid boy” HA, I love my mom. Also, I love this trench. With the weather being so bipolar, it’s been the perfect spring jacket. Although it is no longer available, I found a few similar styles that are on sale (see above).
In other news, I discovered this amazing Australian based jewelry company, The Peach Box. My earrings and Roman numeral bracelet are from there. I Love. It is all so unique, such high quality, and really great prices. Check them out.
I have found the worlds greatest hair product, I’m literally obsessed. It’s called, Tossed Salt Spray. It adds so much volume to my hair. I’ve been using it to let my hair dry, adding extra curl and volume, and then either leaving it for a natural beach wave, or adding some curls for a little more glam. Last week, I was in California, touring and performing with my dance company, BYU Contemporary Dance Theatre, and I used it almost every day. My hair was seriously on point. So wavy. I loved it. As a side note, can I just move to California? The weather? literally amazing. Anyways, the trip was amazing and I couldn’t have been happier dancing and performing every single day. I was in absolute heaven.
A lot of my readers probably don’t know this about me but, I grew up training and dancing competitively at a studio called The Dance Club. I was there from age 3-18 dancing on the highest company, and working with some of the worlds top choreographers. I loved every second of it and truly became the person I am because of it. So much of who I am I owe to my amazing teachers and studio directors. I grew as a dancer, a person as well as an artist while I was there, which is a huge reason I got into modeling, fashion, and photography. I also learned so much about hard work, responsibility, team work, integrity, and so much more thanks to The Dance Club. If you have little girls and are considering dance, it was the best thing I could have ever done. Just to add something else about myself, I now dance at BYU. I did Cougarettes for 2 years and am currently doing the contemporary dance company, minoring in dance and majoring in photography. This summer, I am doing an internship in NYC with Jon Moe for fashion photography. I’m hoping to take and assist some dance classes as well. I auditioned for the Rockette intensive while I was in Chicago a few weeks ago, and I just found out I got in, so I’ll be doing that as well, which I’m super excited about. After graduation, I hope to move back to NYC and pursue dance as a professional career, while continuing my love for photography, fashion and modeling. Goals.
Hello, all you Lovelies! If you follow me on Instagram (@megricks) or on Snapchat (megricks) you saw that I was in Chicago just a few weeks ago with my momma. I hinted that “there were exciting things in the works” happening down there AND there were. I was actually down there for a dance audition I’ve been dreaming of since I was 9. The audition went really really well and I felt super good about it, but we won’t know anything for a few more months.. keep your fingers crossed. Anyways, we had never been to Chicago before so it was a whole new adventure. We LOVED it. We walked pretty much everywhere, shopped till we dropped down Michigan Avenue (also known as The Magnificent Mile), ate lots of GOOD food (we are total foodies), and enjoyed the most amazing weather (BONUS). Some of my fave stores were, Bloomingdales along with their unreal fro yo via Orange Carrot, Banana Republic, A GORGEOUS Nordstrom — it was honestly so beautiful, Zara, and a Ginormous Burberry (truly a work of art). Our fave Restaurants, thanks to some amazing recommendations were, Girl and the Goat (reserve early, it’s unreal), RPM Italian, and Lou Malnatis Pizzeria. We enjoyed some amazing art and museums as well, and really just had so much fun being together, my Mom is my very best friend. I love her dearly. And since everyone keeps asking me, “where to next?” — you’ll just have to wait and see 😉 However, the point to all of this is that I found this sweater in Chicago at Banana Republic and I’m obsessed, plus it’s on sale with additional 40% off. It is the coziest ever which makes me the happiest ever (ha).
Thanks for stopping by and for anyone who gave us the above recommendations, Thank you!
I’m hosting a giveaway with Arvo on my Instagram (@megricks) it ends at midnight tonight! Hurry over and enter.
In other news, my best friend Macie Davies and I went on a little adventure up the Canyon the other day and seriously came upon the prettiest spot. We had so much fun. The snow and winter is seriously stunning!! I absolutely love driving up the canyon, with friends or even just by myself. I honestly find so much peace going on drives alone to beautiful spots, taking pictures and just taking the time to hear myself think and to get away from the world. Sometimes, it’s so nice to just be alone and think about life and the kind of person I want to be. Life can get really hard. It’s kind of funny because everyone always says that life on social media is so much better than the actual life, and to be honest, it is very true. I have really been struggling lately. This past year has been the hardest of my life. Some days are harder than others. Some days I can’t get my self out of bed. Most nights (lately) I cry myself to sleep. Some days I want to crawl away from life and from all the pain of the world. Sometimes I wish that it could all go away. Some days it’s hard to keep my head above water. But, it’s days like these, that make me so much stronger. Because at the end of the day, I do get up and try to rise above this trying time in my life, and because of that I know I am getting stronger. I am learning so much. Day by day, things will get better. And to be honest, today is the first day in about 2 weeks that I haven’t cried, so that is a huge accomplishment. I just have to take it one day at a time. I just want to say thank you to all the amazing people in my life who build me up. Who make me strong. Who listen to me. Who give me advice. And thank you to all of you lovelies. I feels so much love and support from all my readers. You guys are the best. Anddd when I really think about it.. it’s really the people in our lives that are the greatest blessing of all, which makes me one lucky girl.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful week. Remember, even on the toughest days, there are so many people who love you and want what is best for you.
Hello and Happy New Year (even though its already the 12th..)! For my first post of 2016 I wanted to share my New Years Eve look. You can never go wrong with a little black dress, no matter what age or occasion. I think every girl needs an LBD. They are absolutely timeless, chic and oh so flattering. I found this dress at Anthropologie in New York last month. It was love at first sight. I like how different it is and that it’s a little bit edgy on top but classy and cute on bottom. It could also be worn in so many different ways which is the best part about it. That’s actually the great think about any dress really, that they can be worn 100 different ways. Dressed up or down, you’ll always have a winning outfit.
As a side note: I am so excited to start posting a little more often this year. I have so many fun ideas and collaborations coming up so keep your eyes peeled.
