Happy Thursday, babes! Okay, funny story.. So a couple months ago the boy I was dating and I broke up. It’s actually hilarious because for some reason I was really sad about it (gotta love break ups!). SO, for Valentines day, my mom got me this trench coat from Surprise Kate Spade to help make me feel better (hahaha), I’ll take it. Her words were, “No more crying over that stupid boy” HA, I love my mom. Also, I love this trench. With the weather being so bipolar, it’s been the perfect spring jacket. Although it is no longer available, I found a few similar styles that are on sale (see above).
In other news, I discovered this amazing Australian based jewelry company, The Peach Box. My earrings and Roman numeral bracelet are from there. I Love. It is all so unique, such high quality, and really great prices. Check them out.
I have found the worlds greatest hair product, I’m literally obsessed. It’s called, Tossed Salt Spray. It adds so much volume to my hair. I’ve been using it to let my hair dry, adding extra curl and volume, and then either leaving it for a natural beach wave, or adding some curls for a little more glam. Last week, I was in California, touring and performing with my dance company, BYU Contemporary Dance Theatre, and I used it almost every day. My hair was seriously on point. So wavy. I loved it. As a side note, can I just move to California? The weather? literally amazing. Anyways, the trip was amazing and I couldn’t have been happier dancing and performing every single day. I was in absolute heaven.
A lot of my readers probably don’t know this about me but, I grew up training and dancing competitively at a studio called The Dance Club. I was there from age 3-18 dancing on the highest company, and working with some of the worlds top choreographers. I loved every second of it and truly became the person I am because of it. So much of who I am I owe to my amazing teachers and studio directors. I grew as a dancer, a person as well as an artist while I was there, which is a huge reason I got into modeling, fashion, and photography. I also learned so much about hard work, responsibility, team work, integrity, and so much more thanks to The Dance Club. If you have little girls and are considering dance, it was the best thing I could have ever done. Just to add something else about myself, I now dance at BYU. I did Cougarettes for 2 years and am currently doing the contemporary dance company, minoring in dance and majoring in photography. This summer, I am doing an internship in NYC with Jon Moe for fashion photography. I’m hoping to take and assist some dance classes as well. I auditioned for the Rockette intensive while I was in Chicago a few weeks ago, and I just found out I got in, so I’ll be doing that as well, which I’m super excited about. After graduation, I hope to move back to NYC and pursue dance as a professional career, while continuing my love for photography, fashion and modeling. Goals.
Hello, all you Lovelies! If you follow me on Instagram (@megricks) or on Snapchat (megricks) you saw that I was in Chicago just a few weeks ago with my momma. I hinted that “there were exciting things in the works” happening down there AND there were. I was actually down there for a dance audition I’ve been dreaming of since I was 9. The audition went really really well and I felt super good about it, but we won’t know anything for a few more months.. keep your fingers crossed. Anyways, we had never been to Chicago before so it was a whole new adventure. We LOVED it. We walked pretty much everywhere, shopped till we dropped down Michigan Avenue (also known as The Magnificent Mile), ate lots of GOOD food (we are total foodies), and enjoyed the most amazing weather (BONUS). Some of my fave stores were, Bloomingdales along with their unreal fro yo via Orange Carrot, Banana Republic, A GORGEOUS Nordstrom — it was honestly so beautiful, Zara, and a Ginormous Burberry (truly a work of art). Our fave Restaurants, thanks to some amazing recommendations were, Girl and the Goat (reserve early, it’s unreal), RPM Italian, and Lou Malnatis Pizzeria. We enjoyed some amazing art and museums as well, and really just had so much fun being together, my Mom is my very best friend. I love her dearly. And since everyone keeps asking me, “where to next?” — you’ll just have to wait and see 😉 However, the point to all of this is that I found this sweater in Chicago at Banana Republic and I’m obsessed, plus it’s on sale with additional 40% off. It is the coziest ever which makes me the happiest ever (ha).
Thanks for stopping by and for anyone who gave us the above recommendations, Thank you!
Don’t you just love a good, chill, outfit? Literally so clutch. And honestly, no one does it better than Madewell. I love the vibes with a good madewell styled outfit (like this one). Let’s be honest, Madewell is life. A lot of times I post more dressy outfits, which honestly are my faves (I’ve never grown out of the dress up phase). But, in reality I dress like this more often than not because my days are usually spent walking around campus going from class to class, to dance, and then back to class. And a pony, comfy tee, sweater and some sneakers are where it’s at.
I’m hosting a giveaway with Arvo on my Instagram (@megricks) it ends at midnight tonight! Hurry over and enter.
In other news, my best friend Macie Davies and I went on a little adventure up the Canyon the other day and seriously came upon the prettiest spot. We had so much fun. The snow and winter is seriously stunning!! I absolutely love driving up the canyon, with friends or even just by myself. I honestly find so much peace going on drives alone to beautiful spots, taking pictures and just taking the time to hear myself think and to get away from the world. Sometimes, it’s so nice to just be alone and think about life and the kind of person I want to be. Life can get really hard. It’s kind of funny because everyone always says that life on social media is so much better than the actual life, and to be honest, it is very true. I have really been struggling lately. This past year has been the hardest of my life. Some days are harder than others. Some days I can’t get my self out of bed. Most nights (lately) I cry myself to sleep. Some days I want to crawl away from life and from all the pain of the world. Sometimes I wish that it could all go away. Some days it’s hard to keep my head above water. But, it’s days like these, that make me so much stronger. Because at the end of the day, I do get up and try to rise above this trying time in my life, and because of that I know I am getting stronger. I am learning so much. Day by day, things will get better. And to be honest, today is the first day in about 2 weeks that I haven’t cried, so that is a huge accomplishment. I just have to take it one day at a time. I just want to say thank you to all the amazing people in my life who build me up. Who make me strong. Who listen to me. Who give me advice. And thank you to all of you lovelies. I feels so much love and support from all my readers. You guys are the best. Anddd when I really think about it.. it’s really the people in our lives that are the greatest blessing of all, which makes me one lucky girl.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful week. Remember, even on the toughest days, there are so many people who love you and want what is best for you.
Hello Lovelies. Okay.. It is really cold. Holy Moly, it is hard for me to even get outside. I was just in Chicago, which you saw if you follow me on Instagram @megricks (stay tuned to find out the exciting reasons I was there).. anyways, it was so warm there. I mean for Chicago at least. They are having an amazingly good winter. We seriously lucked out big time. We definitely picked the right year to go. Anyways, back to the weather here.. Lately, getting dressed has been a major struggle. I am getting kind of sick of my winter clothes and boots. I try to switch things up and make it different. But, I realized, sometimes you just have to get back to the classics. This pencil skirt has been on repeat this winter. I’ve paired it so many different ways (As seen Here) It’s a staple piece forsure. Also, It’s currently on sale, plus an additional 30% off right now. And to be honest, the great thing about a J.Crew Pencil skirt is that they stay in style for so long. It is a classic, and something you can keep wearing for years to come. Which, in my opinion, makes spending a little more money worth it, since it is such good quality you will be able to keep it longer than you would a cheaper item. So, I think a splurge every once in a while is totally okay.. especially when a it is a classic and it’s from J.Crews winter sale. Makes for a much cheaper “splurge”. If you needed justification, there it is (ha).
I also just wanted to say thank you to all my readers and followers. Your comments have been so kind and supportive and I couldn’t be more grateful. You guys are the best. Thanks for stopping by!
How was everyones Long Weekend? If you follow me on Instagram then you saw that I went skiing with my family this Martin Luther King Day. I love the few long weekends we have this time of year because they are the perfect opportunity to spend a little extra time with the ones you love most. Those are the best kind of days. I am slightly obsessed with my family. Any day I get to spend with my family is a day well spent, in my opinion. So grateful to have them. I’ve been so blessed with such an amazing fam and I am so grateful I get to spend forever with them. Such a happy thought.
In other news.. This has been one of my favorite outfits this winter season. I Especially loved this combo over the holiday season. But, the great thing about this skirt is that it can be worn in multiple ways and makes for the perfect stand out, dressy (and of course classy) outfit. Plus, the other great thing about this skirt is that it is on sale at J.Crew with an additional 40% off!!! I just ordered a few new goodies myself and they were all such an incredible price. Can’t wait to share those new items with you. But, until then, hurry over and shop the sale before it ends.
So grateful for all you amazing readers. Thanks for stopping by!
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen a few of these pictures from my roommate Christmas shoot. I obviously couldn’t post all of the pictures there, so here are a few of my very favorites. I really lucked out with such amazing roommates and best friends. I am a big believer that the Lord places people in our lives for a reason. Nothing is coincidence. These two are an incredible blessing in my life. They both had just returned from serving a mission for the LDS church and truly got home just when I needed them. I had just gone through the biggest and most challenging trial of my life this past year and I know the Lord put them in my life to help heal me. I am so blessed to have them. Not only that, but they are always down for late night chips and salsa, dance parties in the apartment, and are my biggest supporters at dance performances. Plus, they let me style this entire shoot exactly how I wanted and it was so so fun!!! Thanks to J.Crew for helping me fulfill my inspiration. Plus, J.Crew is having an extra 40% off all their sale items! Check it out. Gotta love those post Christmas sales! Also, Net-a-Porter is having a huge sale on designer items. Check it.
I just wanted to say a quick hello from the beautiful and snowy Park City + give you a heads up that EVERYTHING at J.Crew is 30% off AND all sale items are an additional 50% off!! There is still time to overnight a last minute package, or just give yourself (or a friend) a little Happy New Year gift. No better way to ring in the new year than with an amazing J.Crew Sale!
My family and I are enjoying a good 47 inches of snow up here in Park City. It’s sort of a blizzard but we are still hitting the slopes and taking advantage of all the fresh powder. Then of course sipping hot chocolate and warming by the fireplace afterwards.
I love spending time with my family, it really is the best part of the holidays. I hope you all made it home and are enjoying some down time and celebrating with the ones you love most.
Thanks for Stopping by and have a Very Merry Christmas and the Happiest New Year!!
