Happy Memorial Day!!

Nothing says Memorial Day like a good blue dress, amiright? Normally on Memorial Day I would be with my family having a pool party/bbq in my backyard. Enjoying the nice summer day, relaxing, and playing with my nieces and nephews. Not gonna lie, I’m sad I won’t be there this year. But, I’m headed for a run in Central Park, babysitting my dance teachers cutest baby, shopping with friends, and dinner at El Centro. Can’t complain, it will be a great day in the city, but I sure do miss my fam a little extra today.

Another great thing about Memorial day are the unbeatable sales! Everyone is having them, so I thought I would share a few of my faves. If you click the link, it will take you directly to their site..

Hello pretty people!

Happy Spring! I was telling my friends the other day, I literally think I am a different person when the sun is shining! I am so much more driven, happy, and enthusiastic about life. HA I think it means I need to live somewhere that it’s warm all year long.. California maybe?? I’d be down. Let’s goooo.

In other news, today is the last day of classes here at BYU, finals start on Friday, i’m done on Saturday, I move out of my apartment (SAD), I go to San Fran with my friends, maybe a cruise, then I am off to NYC for the entire summer. I am doing an internship with a fashion photographer, Jon Moe, then once the internship ends I’ll be training with the Rockettes to hopefully (fingers crossed) get a contract with them. However, I have one more year of school, so we will see what happens. Lot’s of fun plans ahead of me and I couldn’t be more excited!

Thanks for stopping by!

Okayyyy… To say I am obsessed with his dress would be an understatement. Sometimes I feel like Isla Fisher in Confessions of a Shopaholic, Where she says, “you know that feeling you get when you see a cute guy, he looks at you, smiles, and your heart melts like butter running down warm toast? That’s what it’s like when I see a store.” That’s how I felt when I saw this dress at Bloomingdales in Chicago. Okay, literally the most dramatic thing I have ever said (and I think I like cute boys more..) but honestly, it was fate because there was only one more, it was my size, It fit me like a glove, AND it was ON SALE! Seriously, what are the chances? (I’m crying out of laughter as I write this because, bless my heart)..  However, You too can get the love and satisfaction that I got out of this dress b/c I found it on Sandro Paris website, and It’s also on sale! Why do I get so much satisfaction when I find a winning piece of clothing AND It’s on sale? Priorities people.. but really though?

Happy Valentines Day, My Loves!

Something I think is slightly comical (the older I get, the funnier it gets) is that each year, every girl (including myself) find so much satisfaction in having “A Valentine”. It is so fun to have someone who loves you, and cares deeply for you. However, we often look past all the amazing people that are already in our lives, constantly looking for the one person who will make you feel “special”. But truth is, those people are all around us. Yes, it is so much fun to have “A Valentine”, and yes you feel so lucky to have someone like that in your life, but at the same time, there doesn’t have to be just one valentine. Today is about love and about making others feel loved and important. There are soo many people who can do that for you. As part of the Love Yourself Campaign I have been asked to be a part of, I’ve realized that it really is so important to look at the good within yourself, to love yourself, before you can truly love anyone else. I LOVE Valentines Day. Partly, because I love receiving flowers (who ever thought a girl could feel so loved than to receive a big bouquet of flowers), Love the colors- pink, pink, and more pink, I love the joy that comes from truly loving a person and vice versa, and the opportunity it allows us to share our love with those around us. It’s true what they say, Love is the most powerful thing in the world. I love, love. I love all the incredible people in my life, And I love all of you lovelies, because without you, none of this would ever be possible. I hope you have so much fun dressing up in the best colors ever, get lots of flowers, eat tons of chocolate, and feel so much love. You, are all amazing and worth being loved. Always always remember that.

Thank you so so much for reading!!!

Happy Love day.

Hello Lovelies. Okay.. It is really cold. Holy Moly, it is hard for me to even get outside. I was just in Chicago, which you saw if you follow me on Instagram @megricks (stay tuned to find out the exciting reasons I was there).. anyways, it was so warm there. I mean for Chicago at least. They are having an amazingly good winter. We seriously lucked out big time.  We definitely picked the right year to go. Anyways, back to the weather here.. Lately, getting dressed has been a major struggle. I am getting kind of sick of my winter clothes and boots. I try to switch things up and make it different. But, I realized, sometimes you just have to get back to the classics. This pencil skirt has been on repeat this winter. I’ve paired it so many different ways (As seen Here) It’s a staple piece forsure. Also, It’s currently on sale, plus an additional 30% off right now. And to be honest, the great thing about a J.Crew Pencil skirt is that they stay in style for so long. It is a classic, and something you can keep wearing for years to come. Which, in my opinion, makes spending a little more money worth it, since it is such good quality you will be able to keep it longer than you would a cheaper item. So, I think a splurge every once in a while is totally okay.. especially when a it is a classic and it’s from J.Crews winter sale. Makes for a much cheaper “splurge”. If you needed justification, there it is (ha).

I also just wanted to say thank you to all my readers and followers. Your comments have been so kind and supportive and I couldn’t be more grateful. You guys are the best. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello and Happy New Year (even though its already the 12th..)! For my first post of 2016 I wanted to share my New Years Eve look. You can never go wrong with a little black dress, no matter what age or occasion. I think every girl needs an LBD. They are absolutely timeless, chic and oh so flattering. I found this dress at Anthropologie in New York last month. It was love at first sight. I like how different it is and that it’s a little bit edgy on top but classy and cute on bottom. It could also be worn in so many different ways which is the best part about it. That’s actually the great think about any dress really, that they can be worn 100 different ways. Dressed up or down, you’ll always have a winning outfit.

As a side note: I am so excited to start posting a little more often this year. I have so many fun ideas and collaborations coming up so keep your eyes peeled.

Thanks for stopping by!

This is my absolute favorite Dress of the season. I found it at Anthropologie about a month ago and about died when I did. I think it’s a sad day (but obviously the best day ever) when finding a new dress is the most exciting part of my life! It makes me so happy (ha). Like I said in my Welcome post, I am very girly. I LOVE wearing dresses more than almost anything else I could ever wear, and that’s saying a lot because I really love clothes. This dress is perfect for Fall as well as the upcoming holiday season, I mean the color is on point. I’m the type of person that will use any excuse to dress in holiday attire.. In High School, dancing at my studio, I would wear red, green, or white the entire month of December, every year. Dressing up is my trademark, at least I’d like to think, and as Kate Spade would say, “Dressing up begins at age 5 and never truly ends” (can I get an AMEN?).

Hope you have a Fab day! Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome to my new Site! If you’ve  been following me for a while now, I have switched from The Chestnut Hill to here.. As many of my friends would say, RIP Chestnut Hill. But, I’m so excited about the change.

If you’re new, let me introduce myself. My name is Megan Ricks, but, everyone calls me Megs.  I feel like what you see here on this site is a direct reflection of who I am (trying to be genuine, ya know?). I absolutely love pink. I love fashion. I love photography (check out my portfolio), and I love dance. Traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures is my jam, and trying new foods is where it’s at (gelato though?! unreal.). I absolutely adore my family, my religion (woo maybe a little controversial right now..) and celebrating this thing we call life. I am currently studying photography at my university and am moving to NYC for the summer to intern and to dance. My style is pretty classic and fairly simple, I’d like to say I’m chic (can I even say that about myself?).. although I love a little edge every once in a while. I am very girly, which usually comes out in most of my posts, although, I do love to run, hike with my dad, and play outside.

That’s just a little about me. I hope that through my posts, you can get to know me, my life and my personal style a little better. I would love to hear from you and get to know you, so please leave a comment and I’ll try my best to get back to you.

I can’t wait to share this journey with you.

Thank you for stopping by!

XO Megs
